“Be the You the World Needs!”

Throughout our lives many of us have found a place of depression, self hate, self disgust, or just a place of dissatisfaction with who we have become. We begin to look at other’s lives and characteristics and say things like:

· Man if I just had his charisma, I could be successful.

· She is so beautiful Im sure she gets all the job offers, I wish I looked like her.

· That person is just so naturally talented that nothing seems hard for them, if I could just be like him.

· Oh there they are again on facebook posting a picture on the boat and taking another vacation.. must be nice to have all that money. I wish I was blessed like they are...

Many people spend their lives living in misery looking at how everyone else is living and how everyone else was created so wonderful and blessed without ever looking deeply into the mirror to see who God created them to be….

Let me see your hand this morning if you would say you know something Ive been in this place… Ive been the one who is always looking at others and saying if I just had this… what they have…I would be so much further along in life if I was like them

Let’s look at this today.

I want to come to you this morning, as a friend, a brother in Christ, a fellow servant of the most high, and say that you don’t need to be them. You need to be the you the world needs, and that is the you that God created from the foundations of the earth. You need to be you, not your neighbor, not that girl or guy on tv. But the You the world needs is the one God created.

I. Who’s Image?

a. :

i. 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

ii. The one you often look at in the mirror with Tears in your eyes because how disgusted you are, how broken you are, is the exact same person that God created in HIS image….In HIS likeness

Let that sink in…

iii. Next time you are cursing yourself on who you are…. Think about who you are really cursing, because you and I were created in God’s image, in His likeness…

b. says: 14I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Not only were you created in His image and likeness. God did not haphazardly Create Man but we were a specific piece of Him, that we would fulfill all that He created us to be!

II. Who’s Likeness?

a.

i. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

ii. We are His workmanship. Not His Mistake, Not His mishap, but His Workmanship!

1. God doesn’t make mistakes

2. God created man and said it was very good!

b. We are His likeness!

i.

1. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

2. This was your ticket back into the family… this was being clothed back in the image and likeness.

ii.

1. 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

a. When Jesus came and we put on the fullness of Christ we are no longer of the fallen nature! Your nature is no longer that of a Sinner but that of Christ.

iii.

1. 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

III. Be the You the World Needs

i. You see God created you Perfect in His Image, even after the fall of man Christ restored us to a place of righteousness.

ii. He created you specifically for your purpose.

iii. If you want the 30-60-100 fold return on your seed for the kingdom, be the person God created you to be.

1. Not everyone will be sent into the prisons to preach, not everyone will be sent into the ghettos.

2. You just have to be the man/woman that God created you to be.

3. The world needs You!

a. When you are you God can shine through, because its in His image that you were created! God is not a liar, it is Satan who is a counterfeit.

iv. Next time you look at someone else wishing to have what they have or be like them, remember there is only one you! And the World needs you! Not two of them.
